Lalor Appointed Ranking Minority Member of Real Property Taxation Committee

Fishkill, New York: Assemblyman Kieran Michael Lalor announced today that he has been appointed as the Ranking Minority Member of the Real Property Taxation Committee by Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb. As the Ranking Minority Member, Lalor will be the senior minority member on the committee. Lalor also will serve on the Education, Governmental Operations, Veterans' Affairs, and Alcoholism and Drug Abuse committees.

"Rising property taxes continue to burden New Yorkers," said Lalor. "I’m going to work hard on the Real Property Taxation Committee to give taxpayers much-needed relief from the highest property taxes in the country. The property tax cap was a successful first step to achieve that goal, but it was incomplete because it left out unfunded mandate reform and concrete ways to encourage spending reductions. The tax cap, mandate reform and streamlining government go hand-in-hand.”

Lalor, a former social studies teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie, said of his Education Committee assignment, “I will work to make sure New York focuses on producing job- and college-ready graduates from our schools in a way that eases the burden on the taxpayer.”

"I’m also excited to work on behalf of our state’s veterans to ensure robust opportunities for veteran workers and entrepreneurs,” Lalor continued.

“These committee assignments are a great opportunity to make New York government serve New Yorkers better," concluded Lalor.
