Assemblywoman Latrice Walker, Councilwoman-Elect Alicka-Ampry Samuel, and PSA2 Community Affairs Presented Their Third Annual Senior Thanksgiving Celebration
Brownsville – On Thursday, November 23, 2017 Assemblywoman Latrice Walker in conjunction with Councilwoman-Elect Alicka Ampry-Samuel and Police Service Area 2 presented the 3rd Annual Senior Thanksgiving Celebration. This event was open to all seniors in the 55th Assembly District and 41st City Council District. The celebration, took place at Mount Ararat Senior Center, which included dinner, entertainment, and gifts for the seniors of the district.
“Many seniors in the district aren’t afforded the opportunity to be with their families for Thanksgiving,” said Assemblywoman Walker. “Gathering together to share a delicious meal helps to alleviate the sadness and isolation many of our seniors experience at this time of the year.”
The eventful afternoon was filled with dancing, laughter, and all around cheer. The seniors enjoyed a delicious meal catered by RCL Enterprise wish catered enchanting southern comfort food. Our seniors boogied all night courtesy of DJ Ron which played nostalgic tunes such as, “Candy by Cameo” and “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough by Michael Jackson”. The seniors were catered to by the volunteers of 500 Men Making a Difference, Metropolis Lions Club, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc, and the students from The Gregory Jocko Jackson School of Sports, Art, and Technology.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to not only provide our seniors in the 41st City Council District and the 55th Assembly District with a Thanksgiving that makes them feel at home, but also to be a part of their Thanksgiving,” said Councilwoman-Elect Alicka Samuel. “In this district the connection is there because we are a family.”
