Assemblywoman Buttenschon Receives Award for Efforts to Expand Affordable Housing Stock

Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon (D-Utica/Rome) announced she received a Legislator of the Year Award from the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of the Mohawk Valley. The nonprofit organization, which advocates for housing options, economic growth and a better quality of life in the Mohawk Valley, honors elected officials who prioritize and support the construction of new residential projects.

“House prices have risen at record levels in the last few months because buyers continue flooding a limited real estate market that is backed up due to COVID-related construction delays,” Buttenschon said. “It’s more important than ever to focus on building new housing across the state so we can bring costs back within reach for hardworking middle-class families. I want to thank the Home Builders and Remodelers Association for this award. This honor only reaffirms my commitment to expanding affordable, quality housing in the Mohawk Valley.”

The Home Builders and Remodelers Association represents small, medium and large volume home builders, commercial builders, developers and remodelers across the Mohawk Valley. It also advocates on behalf of the professionals and tradespeople who work closely with the housing industry, including subcontractors, building materials suppliers and realtors. The organization offers important resources and support to its members, including informational tools on current building industry issues, opportunities to showcase their work through promotional programs and events, insurance programs, educational and job training workshops, networking opportunities and advocacy at the local, state and federal level.[1]
