Assemblywoman Buttenschon Seeks Nominations for National Correctional Officers and Employees Week Awards

Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon (D-Utica/Rome) announced that she is seeking nominations from constituents in order to recognize outstanding correction officers and employees. Residents of the 119th Assembly District are urged to nominate correction employees from the Mohawk Valley that they would like to thank for their service.

“As we continue to combat the ongoing public health crisis, it’s more important than ever to recognize the work of those who are putting their lives on the line protect our communities,” said Buttenschon. “Since 1984, the first week of May has been dedicated to recognizing correction officers and employees and thanking them for the difficult and often dangerous work that they do. It’s important that we recognize and honor these brave workers, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Constituents can visit the Assemblywoman’s website at nyassembly.gov/Buttenschon to learn more about the awards or nominate someone they know. The nomination pages for Buttenschon’s teaching and nursing awards can also be located at this address. All entries must include the nominee’s name, workplace and a brief sentence on why he or she has been chosen.
