Simpson Responds To 2022 State Of The State Address

Statement by Assemblyman Matt Simpson (R,C,I-Horicon)

“The governor laid out her vision for 2022 earlier today in the annual State of the State. I am committed to working with her on issues that better our community. The governor mentioned term-limiting the offices of governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general, which I fully support. I also agree with the governor about keeping our children in school for in-person learning, this generation cannot afford to lose more ground due to pandemic restrictions.

“The governor mentioned numerous issues of concern for many New Yorkers. Unfortunately, there were many issues, including those specific to our rural populations, that weren’t mentioned. The fundamental challenges facing our North Country families are unique compared with those in other parts of the state that were mentioned numerous times during her address. I am hopeful that upon learning the details outlined in her agenda, her promise of true foundational change in New York rings true.

“The current state of the state has led many New Yorkers to leave at an alarming rate. Our shared future cannot reach its full potential when our neighbors and families continue to relocate. We must work together to solve the various issues that have brought us here and use 2022 as an opportunity to build bipartisan consensus on solutions that work for ALL New Yorkers.”
