Assemblyman Matt Simpson (R,C,I-Horicon) is announcing four libraries within the district will be receiving State Aid for Library Construction. The allocation comes from $34 million in capital funds as part of the 2021-22 New York State Budget, where awarded libraries can use the funding for necessary repairs and updates.

The selected libraries in the 114th District include funding of nearly $400,000 between Keene Public Library granted $96,888.00, Wilmington E.M. Cooper Memorial Public Library granted $88,076.00, Crandall Public Library granted $176,108.00 and Rockwell Falls Public Library granted $21,165.00. 

“I am pleased to see the state investing in our libraries around the district; many of which are in desperate need of updates and renovations to continue keeping their doors open. While we think of libraries as only holding books, but we fail to remember they are places to gather, hold meetings, work or study. They also accommodate users with disabilities or for visitors to simply use the internet. As a lifelong resident of the North Country, I know how difficult it may be with limited broadband in some areas, which is why I have continued to advocate for this funding to allow residents to participate in distance learning or work, and to continue being a community staple for future generations,” said Simpson.
