Simpson Opposes Special Session for Legislator Pay Raises
Assemblyman Matt Simpson (R,C,I-Horicon) opposes the Majority’s call to hold a special session regarding pay raises for state legislators. Other Assembly members have also voiced their opposition to the idea of increasing their salary, saying it’s tone deaf when other major issues such as public safety and the cost of living have been ignored.
“The Majority’s idea to hold a special session during the holidays to give themselves a pay raise is completely out of touch considering families across the state are struggling to afford their utility bills and buy gifts for their children. The cost of living is skyrocketing, people can hardly put food on the table, and all the Assembly Majority can think about is themselves. I will vote no against pay raises for legislators and I encourage my colleagues to do the same,” said Simpson.
