Simpson Joins Rathbun’s First Tapping of the Season
Assemblyman Matt Simpson (R,C-Horicon) joined the Rathbun family at Rathbun’s Maple Sugar House for their annual first maple tapping of the season. Joining him were Sen. Jake Ashby, State Agriculture Commissioner Richard Ball and members of the Granville Future Farmers of America.
“One of the greatest treasures of Upstate New York is our change of seasons and the joys each one offers. Rathbun’s Maple Sugar House has been a local, family-owned and operated business for nearly eight generations so there’s truly something to be said about their passion for a true sugarhouse,” said Simpson. “Each spring, a lot of work goes into tapping to start the boiling process in order to produce enough maple products to sell and distribute. If you’re ever in the Whitefall area, stop by for pancakes year-round and see what part of the process they’re in, they’ll even let you participate. Thank you to the Rathbun family for having us there today, I truly enjoyed all of the knowledge and fun. I look forward to returning soon.”
