Assemblyman Michael Durso (Massapequa Park), in partnership with Long Island Cares – The Harry Chapin Food Bank, is holding a Food Drive on Saturday, September 17th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 18th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Shop Rite located at 5508 Sunrise Highway in Massapequa.
Local residents and community organizations may donate non-perishable food and drinks as well as baby food and formula. All items collected will be donated to Long Island Cares and distributed to local food pantries, Veteran agencies, mobile delivery services, Children’s Nutrition, senior centers, and many more. For more information, please contact Assemblyman Durso’s office at 516-541-4598.
“Over 300,000 Long Islanders are food insecure and hungry,” said Assemblyman Durso. “Record high food prices, inflation, and the high cost of living have drastically increased the need for food assistance. We must come together as a community and support our less fortunate neighbors.”
