Norris Honors Local Art Teacher for Her Efforts to Honor Veterans’ Sacrifice

Assemblyman Mike Norris (R,C-Lockport) presented a state Assembly proclamation to Barker Senior High School art teacher Krista Beth Feltz today to honor her years of dedication and encouragement of students’ participation in the Annual Memorial Day Poster Contest. The contest honors the sacrifice of our nation’s military to ensure our freedom and has helped build a connection between high school students today and those who serve in our armed forces.

“We are grateful to the service of everyone who has served in our military and all of the educators who have participated in this program, but Krista Beth Feltz has gone above and beyond in shining a light on our nation’s heroes and reminding her students that freedom is not free,” said Norris. “We are grateful for her patriotism and artistic encouragement of her students that is leaving a lasting impact on our community for the better.”

A Barker Senior High School graduate herself, Krista Beth Feltz obtained a bachelor’s degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology and her post-baccalaureate in Art Education K12 from Nazareth College. She has been teaching at Barker since 2007.
