Norris & Local Senior Centers Partner For Annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day Fair
Assemblyman Mike Norris (R,I-Lockport) is partnering with the Akron/Newstead and Clarence senior centers to host a free Senior Health and Fitness Fair on Wednesday, May 31, 2017. The event is one of many being held across the country in recognition of the 24th Annual National Senior Health and Fitness Day, which anticipates 100,000 national participants this year.
“It’s important for all of us to lead active, healthy lives and particularly so for seniors who upon retirement may not have the same level of community engagement,” said Norris. “Many of our older constituents are some of the most active and engaged people I know, but this event will encourage those less so to find new, creative ways to prioritize their health and fitness in a safe and fun manner. I encourage all to attend.”
The event will showcase free health screenings and seminars as well as exhibits on senior health, fitness, safety and available government benefits. Free lunch will be provided and there will be prize giveaways. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Akron Newstead Senior Center, located at 5691 Cummings Road in Akron.
