Assemblyman Michael A. Montesano welcomes Boys and Girls Clubs 2010 Youth of the Year candidates (left to right) Michael Zangari, Shaney A. Wells, and Diana Vlavianos.
Assemblyman Michael A. Montesano (R,I,C-Glen Head) today joined members of the Boys and Girls Club New York State Alliance as its Youth of the Year candidates visited Albany. The four candidates joining Montesano, ranging in age from 16 to 18 years old, represent Boys and Girls Clubs from around his Assembly District, including Glen Head, Locust Valley, and Glen Cove. The Youth of the Year is an annual award given to young New Yorkers who best represent the values and ideals of the Boys and Girls Club New York State Alliance.
The Boys and Girls Club is both a sanctuary and a classroom, Montesano said. It is there that young people can learn enduring leadership skills in a safe environment. I am proud of the work done by the Boys and Girls Club New York Alliance; I am prouder still of the magnificent achievements of the Youth of the Year candidates joining my colleagues and me in Albany today. I wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.
