Assemblyman Michael A. Montesano is accompanied by Nassau County Legislator Rose Walker at a Memorial Day Parade. The Hicksville event was presented by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Catholic War Veterans, and Jewish War Veterans.
Assemblyman Michael A. Montesano (R,I,C-Glen Head) recently participated in the Hicksville Memorial Day parade ceremony, joining local dignitaries, friends, and neighbors at the May 31 event. Montesano, whose district office is located in Hicksville, marched in the parade before speaking a few words at the end of the ceremony.
Memorial Day presents us with an opportunity to reflect on the extraordinary sacrifices ordinary citizens are capable of, Montesano said. The men and women of the United States military who have lost their lives in service to our country deserve much more than a single day at summers unofficial start. Instead, their bravery demands the steady acknowledgment that freedom never comes without a price, and the liberties we enjoy today are owed to the soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen who have fought and died on distant shores in faraway lands.
