Montesano Meets With Local Seniors

Assemblyman discusses property tax cap, unfunded mandate relief

Assemblyman Montesano speaking with seniors on July 21, 2011, in Glen Head.

Michael A. Montesano (R,I,C-Glen Head) recently spoke with senior citizens from the Golden Ring Center in Glen Head regarding New York State’s new property tax cap. A group of senior citizens participated in a question-and-answer session with Montesano on how the property tax cap will affect them and how more unfunded mandate relief is needed to guarantee comprehensive property tax reform and lower bills.

“I would like to thank the members of the Golden Ring Senior Citizens Center for allowing me to come visit and have an open and honest discussion with them regarding the recently passed property tax cap,” said Montesano. “We discussed how the property tax cap will have a direct effect on every member of this community. In order for this property tax cap to flourish and help cap the skyrocketing cost of living in New York State, there will be a need for further unfunded mandate relief. I will continue to champion that cause going into the 2012 legislative session.”
