Assemblyman Michael Montesano (R,I,C-Glen Head) would like to thank residents for helping make his July 12 Shed the Meds public awareness event a success. Sponsored by the Nassau County Police Department, Shed the Meds provided a safe and secure environment for residents to dispose of unused prescription drugs. As a leader in the movement to combat prescription drug abuse, Assemblyman Montesano was pleased to see so many residents take advantage of this opportunity to protect the communitys health and keep prescription drugs away from young children and other vulnerable groups.
I would like to thank the members of our community for helping to make Shed the Meds a success, as well as the Nassau County Police Department for supervising this important event, said Montesano. Prescription drug abuse is a real threat to public safety and by participating in Shed the Meds, we are able to keep harmful drugs away from the vulnerable groups within our neighborhoods.
