Montesano Signs Onto Bill to Update JCOPE

Assemblyman Michael Montesano (R,C,I,LBT-Glen Head) is pleased to announce he is signing onto co-sponsor a bill (A.8238) to remove the partisan voting requirement to initiate an investigation or issue findings on the Joint Commission on Public Ethics (JCOPE)

“It is high time JCOPE received an update, as it’s clear the commission not only lacks transparency and balance, but its bylaws are cumbersome to navigate. There is no need for these partisan votes, it should be all-bipartisan. I look forward to this update. I believe it will not only help things run more efficiently, but also start to bring transparency for the people we represent.”
