Tannousis: Gateway National Recreation Area Passes the Assembly
Assemblyman Michael Tannousis (R,C-Staten Island/Brooklyn) passed a bill that gives New York State and the City two additional years to finalize land transfers to the federal government for the inclusion of the Gateway National Recreation Area. This ensures continued progress on a long-standing urban park space without adding new costs or changing existing policy.
“I am pleased to see this proposal pass the Assembly, which extends the deadline for the transfer of lands for the Gateway National Recreation Area,” said Tannousis. “This is a critical step toward preserving and expanding recreational facilities and park spaces in our communities. By giving additional time for the city and state to complete this process, we are reaffirming our commitment to protecting our natural resources, recreational access and the Gateway project.”
