Assemblymember Hunter Appointed to Assembly Workgroup to Tackle Sexual Harassment
Assemblymember Pamela J. Hunter (D-Syracuse) announced that she will be participating in the newly formed Assembly workgroup to address sexual harassment. The workgroup was organized by Speaker Carl E. Heastie to discuss and implement measures to combat sexual harassment.
“Sexual harassment is an insidious problem in far too many workplaces across the state,” said Hunter. “We’re hearing account after account from women and men who’ve been subjected to inappropriate, horrendous behavior, and it’s time to put an end to it. No one should ever feel unsafe or uncomfortable while at work, and absolutely no one should get away with abusing their power. Being part of this workgroup is an opportunity for me to take important steps to protect New Yorkers.”
Hunter has been an active supporter and outspoken advocate for survivors of sexual assault in her district and throughout the state. As part of the workgroup, Hunter will help examine and make recommendations on various sexual harassment issues and policy responses.
