Assemblymember Hunter Hosts 2019 Exceptional Women of CNY Awards Ceremony

Assemblymember Pamela J. Hunter (D-Syracuse) announced that she hosted her annual Exceptional Women of Central New York Awards ceremony to honor local women for their invaluable contributions to the community on Tuesday, May 28, at the Onondaga Free Library.

“Women are breaking barriers across the nation and right here in Central New York,” Hunter said. “From educators to dedicated volunteers, these trailblazers are making our region a better place to live. This awards ceremony is my way of recognizing these incredible women and bringing the community together to show our gratitude.”

Hunter has held this event each year since taking office in 2015. Members of the community were encouraged to nominate a local woman who has made an impact on their life or the lives of others.

This year, five exceptional women were honored, including Amy DeLine for business; Kristina Starowitz for volunteerism; Dr. Nelly Kazzaz for medicine; Denise Moore for Mother of the Year; and Asa Shenandoah for Educator of the Year.
