Burke Stands Up Against Conversion Therapy

"The arguments in the chamber that day when we got it passed became about one central thing and it was about protecting vulnerable people and children, which I know everyone in this body wants to do," said Assemblymember Burke, a member of the Assembly Committee on Children and Families, discussing his time in the Erie County Legislature where he helped pass a measure to ban conversion therapy during a debate on a bill to prohibit mental health professionals from engaging in sexual orientation change efforts with patients under the age of 18 (A.576).
