Assemblywoman Sandy Galef hosts CEO of GENERGY Dario Gristina, of Putnam Valley, and Founder and President of Electric Cars of New York Eric Illowsky, of Ossining, on her latest episode of her television show Dear Sandy. They discuss new, environmentally friendly concepts that are at the core of these two business ventures, as well as the impact green businesses like these can have on the economy. More attention is being paid to green energy ventures as a way for consumers to save money, and for entrepreneurs to kick-start the lagging economy. Illowsky, whose new company Electric Cars of New York converts municipal vehicles from gas to electric, and Gristina, who directs GENERGY, which sets-up energy-saving options for private homes and businesses, discuss both the environmental and economic gains that their companies provide to their communities. They focus on the potential new jobs that can be and have been created in the area, as well as the cost-savings these green energy concepts can provide for local municipalities and private residents. In the interview Galef also investigates the role that government can play in assisting environmentally friendly businesses in New York. They discuss the availability of state and federal grants for people and businesses that are trying to promote green energy programs and ways for other individuals to apply for these grants.
