Gray Attends Opening Ceremonies for FISU World University Games

Assemblyman Scott Gray (R-Watertown) joined Gov. Hochul, state legislative colleagues, local elected officials and athletes from across the world in Lake Placid for the opening ceremonies of the 2023 FISU World University Games. The ceremonies took place in the historic ‘Herb Brooks Arena’ to mark the start of the winter games taking place across the Adirondack region from January 12-22. Gray is the Assembly ranking member of the Tourism, Parks, Arts and Sports Development Committee.

“The Adirondack region is uniquely equipped and well prepared to host these games, which will bring thousands of college athletes from more than 50 countries and 600 universities to our area,” said Gray. “I look forward to watching the competition that will feature several winter sports, including the hockey portion which will be hosted in the River District on the SUNY Canton and Potsdam campuses. May the games begin!”
