Assemblyman Gray Applauds $16 Million in Funding for Redevelopment of Watertown Correctional Facility

Assemblyman Scott Gray welcomes the announcement of $16 million in NY RUSH funding for the redevelopment of the Watertown Correctional Facility, in addition to the potential for $8 million through an Empire State Development (ESD) matching grant program. This critical investment provides an ideal opportunity to repurpose the facility into much-needed workforce housing to support the growing demand anticipated from advanced manufacturing jobs tied to Micron and related developments.

“This funding marks an exciting step forward for the North Country,” said Gray. “Redeveloping this site into workforce housing will position our community to meet the needs of the advanced manufacturing sector and ensure the North Country remains a competitive and thriving region for economic growth.”

This redevelopment reflects a commitment to strengthening local communities while addressing housing needs for a growing workforce. Assemblyman Gray applauds Gov. Hochul and ESD Commissioner Hope Knight for their continued commitment and looks forward to continued efforts between state and local partners to maximize the impact of this funding.
