Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I—Pulaski) presented Dr. Ronald Uva of Oswego Health with an Assembly Resolution today at Oswego Health. Dr. Uva recently received the Distinguished Service Award from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. The Assembly Resolution commemorates this award, as well as his 30-plus years as an obstetrician and gynecologist.

Dr. Uva is the president of Oswego County OB/GYN, PC. He recently began a second five-year term on the New York State Board for Medicine. He is believed to be the first physician from Oswego Health to be named to this prestigious board. In 2011, Dr. Uva was elected as vice chair of the New York District of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

The resolution recently passed in the Assembly and is now part of official state record. Barclay, as well as Assemblyman Bob Oaks, sponsored the resolution. The resolution was presented to Dr. Uva today, in the company of Dr. Uva’s close colleagues, hospital administrators, his wife, Sarah, and family members. The honoring was hosted by Oswego Health.

“Dr. Uva has brought many Oswego County residents into this world. Beyond his admirable accomplishments with his many patients, he also works to improve the medical community through his advocacy efforts. He also works to empower women through public education efforts. I’m happy to present Dr. Uva with this resolution today in honor of his many professional accomplishments,” said Barclay.

Dr. Uva is active with the Medical Society of the State of New York and is the author of a monthly column for the Palladium Times called “Today’s Health for the Empowered Woman.” He was named an American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) John McCain Fellow in 2012. He has also served on the ACOG’s national committee for professional liability and has been its legislative chair.

“Oswego Health is also very proud of Dr. Uva and the many accomplishments he has had throughout his career,” said Oswego Health Medical Staff President Ivan Proano. “He has been a dedicated physician for more than 30 years and has always put his patients first, whether it’s providing direct care or advocating for them on important healthcare issues at the state level.”
