Dear Friend, In the Assembly I have carried on my service to the community by confronting the issues that matter most to our families. As a Suffolk County police officer for over 20 years, I saw first-hand that our community had great potential –– but also much room for improvement. Solid schools, quality health care and a better quality of life are always number one on my agenda. Working together, we have gotten Suffolk on the right path. It is because of your support that I have been able to fight for the working families of Brentwood, Islip, Central Islip, Bay Shore, and Islandia. Please do not hesitate to contact my office if you are ever in need of assistance. I can be reached at 435-3214.

Working to create more affordable housing Ramos secured $53,000 for Long Island Housing Partnership and sponsored bills to establish tax-deductible savings accounts for first-time home buyers (A.5417) and create a Long Island work force housing incentive program (A.2052). Making sure everyone has access to quality, affordable health care Ramos helped pass a budget that restored $760 million in proposed cuts to hospitals, nursing homes and other programs, and cut the governor’s sick tax on hospitals in half. Prescription drug costs were also lowered by creating a comparison list for shoppers to be posted on a central Web site (Ch. 293 of 2005). For more information call 835-3000. Additionally, Ramos secured $15,000 for local health programs that provide residents with access to health care and low cost prescription drugs.
