Assemblywoman Weinstein successfully secured over $300,000 in State funding, enabling the
installation of 8 concrete "Bus Pads" on Nostrand Avenue between Gravesend Neck Road and
Avenue Z. With the newly installed steel reinforced concrete bus pads and new steel-faced curbs,
the uneven slabs of sinking asphalt roadways at the bus stops are no longer trip hazards. Seniors
from the Kings Bay Senior Center joined the Assemblywoman to admire the newly installed bus
pads.
Assemblywoman Weinstein sponsors many programs at her office and throughout the community.
The annual flu shot programs helps hundreds of constituents every year to protect themselves against

Assemblywoman Helene Weinstein and Assemblyman Alan Maisel joined Friends United Block
Association President Gardy Brazela at the opening of Friends United Youth Center's computer lab.
The funding for the computers was made possible through a $50,000 state grant directed by
Assemblymembers Weinstein and Maisel.
Assemblywoman Helene Weinstein joined Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz to unveil new
decorative streetlights installed along Emmons Avenue made possible by funding from the
elected officials. Pictured with the Assemblywoman are local activist Eddie Eisenberg, Josie

At the one-year anniversary of the Brooklyn Small Building Housing part and the announcement
of the launching of the Brooklyn Housing Court Pro Bono Project, Judiciary Committee Chair,
Helene Weinstein, joins with (l-r) Kings County Housing Court Judge, Hon. Anthony Fiorella;

and Hon. John S. Landsen.
Quality of life for children, adult and senior members of the Kings Bay Y have been enhanced through
a complete renovation of their locker rooms, funded by Assemblywoman Helene Weinstein.

YM-YWHA, "Y" members and staff at the ribbon cutting celebrating the renovations.
Dr. Daniel Branovan, President of the Chernobyl Project demonstrated to Assemblywoman Weinstein
how, with the use of advanced scanning technology, trained Doctors can detect thyroid cancer at its
earliest stages. The Assemblywoman advocated on behalf of this vital project and was able to secure
over $1 Million for these life-saving screenings. When diagnosed early thyroid cancer is totally curable.
Beginning December 14, 2009 people on fixed-incomes who could not afford a cell phone were able
to apply and obtain a free cell phone (one per household) through Virgin Mobile's new Assurance
Wireless program. Assemblywoman Weinstein joined some of the thankful phone recipients in front
