Assemblywoman Helene Weinstein welcomes members of the National Yiddish Theatre
Folksbiene to the Capitol. The oldest Yiddish performing arts troupe, led by Executive Director
Felix Frankel, visited Albany to promote its outreach program which is dedicated to bringing
Yiddish Theatre to audiences who are unable to visit its theatre, especially to communities of
Holocaust survivors. The theatre troupe offers an important opportunity for celebrating Yiddish
culture.
Assemblywoman Helene Weinstein pitches in with community activists including Mrs. Emilia Lloyd,
and Pastor Jeanette Bryant of Bryant Memorial Church as they make final preparations for Youth
Happen'n '09. Assemblywoman Weinstein helps sponsor this yearly event which hosts over 3,000
community children.
Assemblywoman Helene Weinstein and Assemblyman Alan Maisel present awards to the young men
of the Mill Basin Mariners Football Association at their 5th Annual Awards Ceremony. The
Assemblywoman provided funding for the purchase of new sports equipment for the team.
