Assemblywoman Galef Discusses Healthy Eating on "Dear Sandy"
Assemblywoman Sandy Galef discusses the importance of a balanced diet and healthy living with
Ossining Dietitian Roberta Gershner.
Assemblywoman Sandy Galef hosts Registered Dietitian and former President of the New York State
Dietetic Association Roberta Gershner, of Ossining, on her television show "Dear Sandy." Galef and
Gershner discuss the importance of healthy eating, as well as its effect on losing weight,
controlling diabetes and staying well.
In particular, Gershner provides suggestions for ways that busy, working parents can prepare quick,
healthy meals for their children. The interview also deals with the recent debate on printing the
number of calories a meal contains on restaurant menus, as well as strategies for portion control.
"Healthy living is a topic close to my heart," said Galef. "I have two bills in the Assembly right
now that focus on providing more fresh fruits and vegetables in our schools, and prohibiting
unhealthy snacks in school vending machines. The well-being of my constituents and their families
is of the utmost importance to me, and so I am so pleased that Roberta is able to join me on 'Dear
Sandy' to present this important information to the public," she concluded.
