“The $250 can make a big difference for seniors on a fixed income, but you have to beware of scams. Don’t be a victim – call for help.”
–Assemblyman Magnarelli

If you’re on Medicare, and you’ve fallen into the prescription drug coverage gap known as the “doughnut hole,” a $250 rebate check is on the way.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • You don’t have to apply for your check because Medicare tracks your drug costs. If eligible, you will AUTOMATICALLY receive your rebate.

  • This check will be sent to the address Social Security uses to reach you, so if you need to change the address on file call 800-772-1213.

  • BEWARE OF SCAMS. Criminals will claim that they can send you the check more quickly if you pay them a fee. It’s not true, and they’re committing fraud.

  • You will NEVER be called over the telephone and asked for personal information.

If you suspect a Medicare scam, report it immediately to the attorney general’s office at 315-448-4800 or 800-MEDICARE.
