Statement from Speaker Silver on Siena Research Institute
Poll and Minimum Wage

Today's Siena Research Institute poll reaffirms what the Assembly Majority has been saying for months.

New Yorkers support reducing poverty. They support stimulating our economic recovery. They support restoring the value of hard work. Seventy-seven percent of New Yorkers support raising the minimum wage.

Public support for raising the minimum wage has remained strong over the course of the 2012 legislative session and it remains a priority of the Assembly Majority. We must end middle-class erosion and reduce poverty in New York. We must restore dignity to hard working full-time employees by raising the minimum wage in New York State.
