Currently, in New York State, only 19 percent of eligible organ donors are enrolled in the New York State Organ and Tissue Registry. Through the approval of Lauren’s Law, we hope to increase awareness and educate all New Yorkers on the importance of becoming an organ donor.

An organ transplant can give a patient in need a new lease on life. The initiatives undertaken under Lauren’s Law will prove to be invaluable to the thousands who are currently waiting for an organ donation. I commend Lauren Shields and her family for their efforts in advocating for this important measure.
