It is with great sadness that I join the Bronx community in mourning the loss of Dr. Beatrice Castiglia Catullo, RN. Ms. Bea, as she was affectionatly known, embodied the best of humanity, and spent her long life dedicated those who needed it most – the ailing and the elderly.
As a nurse, Ms. Bea saw that seniors were being sent home from the hospital without the home health care they needed. She set about to fix that. Her vision of filling that gap in health care became Regional Aid for Interim Needs (RAIN). Today, Ms. Bea's organization has grown into on the largest of its kind in the Bronx, helping seniors in our community with everything from getting around to getting a hot meal.
Her dedication to those in need and her vision for helping others will be missed, but her legacy will live on.
This Mother's Day Weekend, we will remember Ms. Bea for her compassion and her care, and as a force for good in the Bronx. May she rest in peace.
