The New York State Office for the Aging (NYSOFA) administers various Federal and State funded programs that serve the elderly. The State Budget also included additional funding of $1,200,000 for the Neigborhood Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NORC) program and an increase of $1,000,000 for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program (SNAP). In additon, the State Budget provided $300,000 for the Elderly Abuse Education and Outreach program and an increase of $250,000 for the Community Services for the Elderly program (CSE). In 2005-06, $10,000,000 from the Housing Trust Fund was also dedicated to create the Access to Home program . The purpose of this hearing is to assess NYSOFA's implementation of the State's funding for aging programs and the impact of the 2005-06 State Budget to improve the lives of older New Yorkers.
