Thiele Announces School Funding Increase to Providers of Special Education

“In an overdue victory for some of New York’s most vulnerable children, schools working with special needs children will receive a 3.8 percent increase in funding. This is vital funding that will help special education providers better serve their students. I fought for this funding in the Assembly’s one-house budget proposal and am happy to see it finally come to fruition.

“Students with special needs attending 853 Schools and Special Act School Districts will benefit from the 3.8 percent rate increase in funding. These schools provide an invaluable learning environment for students with very special needs, offering vital services beyond the classroom.

“This much-needed financial relief gives special education schools greater funding so that they can continue providing the services and programs their students so desperately need.”
