Fitzpatrick Reminds Students Of Scholarship Opportunities

Deadline for AGC scholarship applications is May 15

Assemblyman Michael Fitzpatrick (R,C,I-Smithtown) would like to inform undergraduate and graduate students that the Associated General Contractors of New York State (AGC NYS) is accepting applications for their diesel technology, construction technology/management and civil-engineering scholarship programs. The organization annually offers two $1,500 scholarships for those pursuing a major in the aforementioned fields and requires that eligible students maintain a 2.5 GPA. This year’s application deadline is May 15.

“Diesel technology, civil engineering and construction technology are among the fastest-growing fields in our economy, and this scholarship does a great job in supporting those industries,” said Fitzpatrick. “Typically, less than 100 people apply for the scholarship; last year, 18 students were recipients, meaning there is a one-in-four chance to receive an award. I encourage any students in these fields to apply for a scholarship right away.”

Since 1998, AGC NYS has awarded 448 scholarships totaling nearly $1 million. Last year, 18 scholarships worth $44,750 were dispensed. For questions about eligibility, AGC NYS Education and Environmental Director Brendan Manning can be reached at 518-456-1134 and applications may be obtained at https://www.agcnys.org/programs/scholarship.
