Assemblyman McDonough Announces New York State Sales Tax Information Brochure Available

Assemblyman David G. McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick) is announcing that he has available in his District Office an informational brochure that lists products exempt from New York state sales tax.

"While we are familiar with paying sales tax on automobiles and other major purchases, food and drug store commodities aren't always taxed. This can be confusing because most people do not know which store-bought items are taxable. Stores can mistakenly charge you extra sales tax without consumers even being aware of it. This is an extra cost that consumers should not have to pay," said Assemblyman McDonough, who is a Member of the New York State Assembly Consumer Affairs and Protection Committee.

This informational brochure contains a list of many tax-exempt items. Anyone interested in obtaining the brochure can contact Assemblyman McDonough at his District Office by calling (516) 731-8830, writing to the Assemblyman at 3000 Hempstead Turnpike, Levittown, New York, 11756 or by e-mail at mcdonod@assembly.state.ny.us.
