McDonough: Donate Blood, Save A Life

Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick) today announced he will host a blood drive on August 20 in conjunction with New York Blood Services. The blood drive will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Town of Hempstead at the Merrick Road Golf Clubhouse. Two Mets tickets will be given to every donor courtesy of New York Blood Services.

“I am proud to sponsor this blood drive as a way to give back to our community and help blood banks meet their growing demands,” McDonough said. “As outdoor activity rises during the summer months, the incidence of serious accidents also rises. This leaves local blood banks in a difficult situation as they struggle to supply blood to hospitals and medical centers. I encourage all my eligible constituents to stop by this event and donate blood. In doing so, you will not only help save lives but also receive a pair of complimentary Mets tickets.”

Requirements to donate blood are as follows: must have a valid identification and Social Security Number, minimum weight is 110 pounds, must be between ages 17 and 75, eat well and be hydrated prior to your appointment, and not have received a tattoo within the past twelve months (unless applied in New Jersey). Appointments are required and can be made by calling McDonough’s district office at 516-409-2070.
