Assemblyman Michael A. Montesano (R,I,C-Glen Head) today recognized those brave individuals who have overcome their disabilities to make a positive impact on their community. The New York State Assembly’s Legislative Disabilities Day is an annual event in which Montesano and his colleagues set aside a day to celebrate the accomplishments of physically challenged New Yorkers who have demonstrated that their disabilities can be overcome.
Special events took place throughout the day, including a breakfast, buffet luncheon, exhibitor fair, elementary school poster contest, informative seminars, and passage of a Disability Day package of legislation while the Assembly was in session.
“This Disabilities Day, let’s celebrate those who inspire us at every turn with their perseverance and compassion,” said Montesano. “I am proud to recognize those who have overcome their disabilities and helped to make their communities a better place. I wish this year’s participants best of luck in all of their future endeavors.”
