Assemblyman Michael A. Montesano (R,I,C-Glen Head) voted in favor of Assembly Resolution No. 269 establishing April 2011 as Autism Awareness Month in the State of New York. Autism is the third most common developmental disability and affects over 1.5 million Americans.
“I believe autism awareness is important and I am hopeful this month will let more people know about the implications of the disability and the significant progress that is being made to improve the quality of life for those with autism,” said Montesano. “Autism impacts the lives of so many and more understanding breeds more progress. I implore people to take some time this month to learn about autism and what you can do to help.”
