Governor Signs Montesano Legislation To Honor Vets
A statement from Assemblyman Michael A. Montesano (R,I,C-Glen Head)
August 5, 2011
At the end of the 2011 legislative session, both houses passed legislation that would designate the Northern State Parkway as the “Purple Heart Way.” On August 4, it was signed into law by Governor Cuomo in an effort to honor local military veterans who have served so valiantly for their country. It is an immense honor to have been asked to present this measure, which is now law, and honor those who were wounded or killed defending our freedoms. This memorial is a simple way we can pay respect for those who have given of themselves and show that we will never forget how much they have sacrificed for us.
