Assemblyman Michael A. Montesano (R,I,C-Glen Head) is excited to announce that his office has been designated as a drop-off location for the Island Harvest Food Drive, which is being hosted by the Long Island Food Bank. The food drive will run through the month of November. With one in 10 Long Islanders turning to emergency food sources such as food banks, Assemblyman Montesano noted the importance of community involvement.
“Long Island is a community that epitomizes collective caring,” said Montesano. “With the colder weather quickly approaching, support for our local food banks is more vital than ever. I look forward to seeing members of our community dropping by our Hicksville office to help out on the Island Harvest Food Drive.”
Island Harvest supplies eight million pounds of food to a network of more than 570 food pantries, soup kitchens and other feeding programs. Eight million pounds of food has a market value of $15 million – a substantial infusion of support to often modestly-funded local programs.
People are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to Assemblyman Montesano’s Hicksville district office at 111 Levittown Parkway.
