Montesano: Lack Of Info On School Aid Troubling

March 12, 2012
Assemblyman Michael A. Montesano (R, I, C – Glen Head) expressed concern today over the lack of specifics on school aid in the Assembly majority’s budget proposal. While the spending plan provides a general allocation of funds, there are few details about individual school districts.

“I am deeply troubled by the absence of specific school aid information in the Assembly budget proposal,” said Montesano. “While there is an assumption that Long Island schools will receive their fair share of state aid, there is no representation of that provided in the majority’s budget. With school budget votes coming up soon, our overburdened districts need to know what funds the state is making available before they can offer their proposals to local taxpayers and stay within the new two percent property tax cap.”
