Assemblyman Michael Montesano (R,I,C-Glen Head) proudly joined his colleagues today in passing the ‘Protection of People With Special Needs Act,’ a bill the Assemblyman co-sponsored. This bill enacts provisions to protect those in state-operated and licensed facilities from abuse, neglect and mistreatment, and establishes a justice center for the protection of people with special needs. For Montesano, this bill will be crucial to protecting those who cannot protect themselves.
“Those with special needs are defenseless against abuse and mistreatment,” said Montesano. “This bill will not only protect them from neglect and maltreatment, but also provide measures for those with special needs to seek justice. I’m proud of Governor Cuomo and my colleagues in the Legislature for taking action on this front and protecting those with special needs.”
