This week, Assemblyman Tom McKevitt (R,C,I – East Meadow) and the Assembly Minority Long Island delegation hosted a volunteer firefighter forum, where they heard testimony from volunteer firefighters, emergency responders, Fireman’s Association of the State of New York and New York State Emergency Management Office about the challenges they face on a daily basis.
“Volunteer firefighters and emergency responders are vital to our safety,” said McKevitt. “These selfless individuals donate their time to help others, while also juggling full-time jobs and training requirements. Our goal is to ease the burden placed on volunteers in order to increase recruitment and retention.”
