McKevitt: New Appliance-Rebate Program Begins Soon
August 24, 2011
Assemblyman Tom McKevitt (R,C,I-East Meadow) announced today that the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) will begin a $3 million rebate program starting on September 2. This rebate program is specifically for the purchase of high-efficiency Energy Star refrigerators and washing machines. The program offers rebates of $350 for high-efficiency refrigerators and $250 for high-efficiency washing machines that meet Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) super-efficiency standards. McKevitt noted the importance of energy-efficient machines in homes and the long-term and immediate savings for Long Island families. “I am pleased to see this rebate program available to our families in order to help them save money on the purchase of a new washing machine or refrigerator,” said McKevitt. “With the rising costs of living putting every family on a tighter budget, this is an opportunity to save money while cutting future electricity bills. The new appliance-rebate program allows for a rebate on new, energy-efficient items and long-term savings on the high costs of energy.” Rebates will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis for completed applications, available on a special website that will be launched prior to the kickoff date or by calling 1-877-NY-SMART (877-697-6278). Purchases made before September 2, 2011, will not be eligible for rebates. For any questions concerning this rebate program or any other state matters, please reach Assemblyman McKevitt at his Garden City office at 516-739-5119, by email at email@example.com or find him on Facebook.
