Assemblyman Thomas McKevitt (R,C,I-East Meadow), in conjunction with Long Island Blood Services, will be sponsoring a blood drive on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, from 2:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Carle Place Fire Department, 460 Broadway in Carle Place.
Donors must have a valid ID, weigh at least 110 pounds, be at least 16 years of age (16-year-olds need parental consent, and those 76 years of age and older need a doctor’s note), eat well and be well hydrated prior to the appointment, and not have gotten a tattoo within the past 12 months. Please call 1-800-688-0900 for further questions regarding medical eligibility.
“Blood is a precious resource that can save lives, and I encourage all community members to donate,” said McKevitt.
Those who wish to donate blood are asked to call Assemblyman McKevitt’s office at 516-739-5119 to schedule an appointment. There will be great raffle prizes from local vendors such as Carle Place Diner, Pizza Supreme, Play It Again Sports, Piccolo Restaurant, Q-Zar, GolfTec, Angelo’s Pizzeria, DC-3 Gourmet, Akbar Restaurant, Master Parrella’s Martial Arts Center, Vincent’s Clam Bar, Yogurt & Such, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Grand Lux Café, Tin Alley Grill and J&D Brauner.
