Assemblyman Ra, Residents Honor Local Heroes

During Memorial Day ceremonies, Assemblyman joins neighbors and veterans to honor those lost in defense of our nation

On Memorial Day, Assemblyman Edward P. Ra (21st Assembly District) joined friends and neighbors to honor the lives of local residents who paid the ultimate price defending our freedom. During ceremonies in Franklin Square and West Hempstead, Assemblyman Ra joined the communities to honor service members for their sacrifices.

“While we all enjoy the Memorial Day parades and the time spent with family, it’s important that we take time to pause and remember the men and women of the armed forces for their sacrifices on our behalf,” said Ra. “These men and women from across the community have paid the ultimate price so that we can enjoy many rights and freedoms. These brave soldiers should never be forgotten. I was honored to be included in yesterday’s services, and I want to thank the members of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Posts and others who helped make the events so remarkable.

“I also want to extend a very heartfelt thank you to all of our veterans and their families for the sacrifices they’ve made in service to our great country,” concluded Ra.

Veterans and their families who need assistance with issues regarding the Division of Veterans’ Affairs or any other state or local matter are encouraged to contact Assemblyman Ed Ra at 516-437-5577 or e-mail him at rae@assembly.state.ny.us.
