Brooklyn – During one of the coldest, snowiest winters in recent history, Assemblyman Peter Abbate helped to ensure that constituents throughout the 49th Assembly District were able to afford heating costs.
As he has for several years, Assemblyman Abbate participated in the Annual Neighborhood Heating Fund Program to help individuals and families with low incomes and high heating costs. The Neighborhood Heating Fund, sponsored by HeartShare Human Service, assists families throughout Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island.
From December through the end of February, qualified households were able to receive up to $200 toward their winter heating costs. With two local offices, Assemblyman Abbate was able to secure thousands of dollars for several dozen applicants.
“HeartShare is one of the many programs I am glad to provide in our neighborhood,” Assemblyman Abbate said. “Even in tough financial times, services like HeartShare provide piece of mind to the community. We look forward to participating again in the future, and encourage those who qualify to apply and take advantage of these funds and the aid they provide.”
