Assemblywoman Amy Paulin Awarded Perfect Legislative Score by New York State Advocacy Group

Scarsdale – Assemblywoman Amy Paulin (D-88) is proud to announce that she was awarded a perfect legislative score from the Environmental Advocates of New York (EANY), one of the state’s leading environmental watchdog groups.

“I am thrilled to earn a perfect score from the EANY,” Paulin said. “This organization’s work toward preserving the environment and the reputation it has earned as a watchdog group has made it one of the most respected advocacy groups in the state. To have them acknowledge my work on protecting the environment is more satisfying than you could imagine.”

Paulin, who was named Chair of the New York State Energy Committee in January, has made finding and encouraging the use of renewable energy sources a priority. Her net metering bill (Ch. 200 of 2013) was signed into law in August. The law encourages the use of fuel cells, an alternative energy source, by allowing customers to apply credits generated in one building to the meter of another. Remote net metering is already permitted for solar, wind, farm waste and micro hydroelectric generating equipment.

She has also sponsored and has been a strong advocate for the NY Sun Act (A.5060-D), a bill that establishes solar energy incentives and financing.

The EANY grades New York lawmakers based on how they voted on bills that impact the environment. The Voter’s Guide, which has been a “legislative scorecard” in New York for nearly a half century, publishes the grades in a effort to keep constituents up to date on how their respective legislators are voting on these bills.

“Protecting the environment should be a very high priority for every legislator in the state,” Paulin said. “Meeting the goals expected of me by my constituents makes me want to work even harder to pass more legislation aimed at protecting our natural resources.”

This is the second environmental honor bestowed on Paulin in less than two weeks. Paulin was honored by the Federated Conservationists of Westchester County last month for her outstanding record on environmental issues since her election to the Assembly in 2000.
