Barclay to Serve on Higher Ed Conference Committee

Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I—Pulaski) has been appointed to serve on the Higher Education Joint Conference Committee as the Legislature undergoes meetings to negotiate the budget. This is the first time in two years Joint Conference Committee meetings have been held in Albany.

Barclay will be the conference’s conferee on the committee.

“I’m pleased to serve on this higher education committee. Higher education provides the opportunity for people to refine job skills so they may increase their salaries. It also enables people to develop a new skill set so they may change fields in uncertain economic times. It is important that we keep our state resources invested in these facilities, as they are and will be a key player in continued economic reform, as well as to their surrounding communities. It is vital we keep the jobs we have, and higher ed plays a major role in job placement and restoration. Going forward, there are improvements that can be made and I am glad to share in a cooperative manner with the full Legislature on what those changes will be.”
